Wines of Portugal partners with D&D London for 'Viva Portugal!' throughout September

Wines of Portugal has partnered with premium casual dining group, D&D London, to host "Viva Portugal!" a month long campaign in September across 20 of their outlets.

The campaign is set to help raise the profile of Portuguese wines in the minds of consumers and get them more familiar with wines from the country. 

"There is so much to explore and discover about Portuguese wines and we hope the promotion introduces new consumers to our country as well as reminding existing drinkers just what it is they love about our wines. We look forward to offering diners the chance to experience something new and discover just how well our wines pair with a whole wealth of different cuisines," said Nuno Vale, the marketing director for Wines of Portugal.

For D&D London the opportunity comes at a good time as Portuguese wines slowly, but consistently are continuing to gain ground.

"With sales of Portuguese wines up 4% year on year and consumer interest in the country showing no signs of slowing down, there has never been a better time to celebrate Portugal and the exceptional wines that it has to offer," said Michael Patterson, group category manager at D&D London.

Throughout September diners will see Portuguese wine lists and exclusive wines available by the glass at restaurants, bars and shops across the D&D London group.

The rise in popularity of wines from regions like Vinho Verde are helping to make Portuguese wines more accessible to consumers.

Globally the wines have had tremendous success in other markets like Canada, Switzerland and Germany, which all saw double digit growth last year.  With younger drinkers looking to explore different wines, and the great value for money that Portuguese wine can offer, the wines can be good fit for on-trade outlets.
