Wines of Argentina is once again re-writing the tasting format with an immersive experience in "Argentina's cutting edge wine scene and contemporary culture" at the JJ Studios in Hoxton this October.

Mixing up trade-focused activities by day, with consumer events in the evening, this four day celebration will bring together elements of contemporary Argentine food, art and music, along with an on-trade focus which will see a group of the World's Best Sommeliers delivering a series of masterclasses on the forefront of the Argentine wine scene.

"Wine events are ripe for disruption and that's what we're aiming to do this Autumn with Barullo, Wines of Argentina's new UK trade and consumer event, a window into cutting edge Argentina," said Andrew Maidment, who heads up the generic body in the UK.

Barullo is a term used in Argentina to describe someone making a racket and the aim is to immerse people in the energy of contemporary Argentina while avoiding clichéd cultural cues, placing wine in the mix in a more holistic approach to singing its virtues.

These activities follow on from Wines of Argentina's ticketed Cambalache consumer events in Hackney, which sold in both previous years, offering a mix of street artists, food and wine in a hip east London venue.

Highlights from Barullo, which will run over four days from October 25 to October 28, include a collaboration with Mauro Colagreco's Mirazur restaurant - recently voted world's sixth best restaurant and Argentina's top chef, along with a venue designed by one of Argentina's leading contemporary galleries and populated by visual artists, plus contemporary musicians from the country.

Trade activities will take place from 10AM-3PM, with wine zones aiming to show the most innovative side of Argentine wines, and a special on-trade focus day on Tuesday 25th, when the World's Best sommeliers will be delivering their personal masterclasses and insights into a variety of aspects of the evolution on the Argentine wine scene.

Consumer activities then take over on the evening, from 6.30PM-11PM, with a Mauro Colagreco pop up restaurant, plus DJs and visual artists on hand to deliver a taste of what is hot in Argentina.

"Our aim with Barullo is to create a must attend event and not a 'me too' trade tasting," said Maidment.

"It's about more than just presenting wines, it's about bringing to life what modern Argentina stands for, exciting the trade with the developments taking place and inspiring them with ways in which they can successfully market and sell their Argentine wine range."
