Talbot Hotel

Yorkersgate, Malton
North Yorkshire YO17 7AJ
Celebrity chef James Martin is partnering the Fitzwilliam Estate's four-star Talbot Hotel, which has been recently restored to its former 17th-century glory in a £4 million refurbishment. The 40-cover, two AA rosette restaurant has been completely remodelled to encompass elegant furniture, white linen and fine silver cutlery. There is also a lounge bar that provides food and a private-dining area seating up to 40.

Spaghetti House

15 Goodge Street, Fitzrovia, W1T 2PQ
020 7636 6582
The first Spaghetti House restaurant to open in London's Fitzrovia in 1955 has reopened after refurbishment. Offering dawn-to-dusk eating seven days a week, it aims to provide "choice, innovation and value under one roof". Breakfast is served from 7am, with baked croissants with Nutella or Provolone or Roma tomatoes, through to brunch, followed by lighter afternoon bites and a full à la carte menu for lunch and dinner. Of course, we can't forget its speciality spaghetti Bolognese (£9.95). The family-owned business, which owns 12 restaurants, has paid homage to the history and heritage of the original house, with each floor recreating the style and feel of a different room. On the ground floor La Cucina (the kitchen) is at the heart of the four floor restaurant.

The North Pole

188-190 New North Road, Islington, London N1 7BJ
020 7354 5400
Formerly the North Star, this fully refurbished pub specialises in craft beer, real ale and ciders, offering more than 22 draught products and 30 bottled beers from independent suppliers. Its original premises was an off-licence, so it also offers a take-away service in the form of 4-pint jugs of draught ale and mixed bottle six-packs. Off-premises offers include Cornwall-based Harbour Brew, which is on tap alongside bottled USA-based Goose Island Madame Rose and Cave Creek Chilli Beer from Mexico. Its in-house selection offers a variety including Innis & Gunn Original from Edinburgh; Belgium-based Bacchus Framboise and Schneider Aventinus from Germany. Traditional pub grub such as homemade pies, and sausage and mash sit alongside the likes of pulled pork, beef sliders and stone-baked pizzas.

2 Hutchins Close, Newham, London E15
A month-long pop-up restaurant situated less than 100m from the Olympic site in the heart of Stratford has now opened. Jimmy's, the brainchild of Jimmy Garcia, founder of recent London restaurant pop ups the Wild Food Kitchen and South West Supper Club, offers fine-dining events that celebrate the best of British produce combined with bespoke Olympic entertainment. Located at Annex East, a new 1,800ft arts warehouse space, nightly five-course dinners will be interspersed with themed nights, wine tasting and food-pairing evenings, along with special screenings of films such as Chariots of Fire. In the afternoon, light lunches and snacks will be served, while a warehouse space will feature a custom-designed cocktail bar and seating, topped off with a fine art exhibition located on the ground floor.
