In a bid to drive oversea sales and increase exports, a selection of leading producers, including Bolney Wine Estate, Chapel Down, Gusbourne, Hattingley Valley and Ridgeway Wine Estate, will be exhibiting at the event in Dusseldorf later this month.

English wine producers have joined forces to fly the flag for the burgeoning industry at ProWein 2017.

In a bid to drive oversea sales and increase exports, a selection of leading producers, including Bolney Wine Estate, Chapel Down, Gusbourne, Hattingley Valley and Ridgeview Wine Estate, will be exhibiting at the event in Dusseldorf later this month.

The push forms part of a "key element" of the industry's marketing strategy to keep the sales momentum of English wines going, with more English wine than ever before exported to a growing number of countries, said marketing director of English Wine Producers Julia Trustram Eve, adding with the drinks so well received, "the sky was the limit".

"In the past 12 months, the number of export markets for English wine grew by a third and producers are predicting that exports will grow tenfold over the next five years," she said.

Industry statistics indicated that some 5% of current volumes were exported, with producers aiming to increase this share to 25% by 2022, said Trustram Eve.

"There is huge ambition to drive English wine exports around the world and as more volume comes on stream, so there are even more opportunities", she added.

Positioned in hall 9 at ProWein, the English wine producers will be exhibiting alongside New World giants New Zealand, South Africa and Australia.
