Bancroft grows organic portfolio with acquisition of Mason & Mason Wines

Published:  06 June, 2017

Bancroft Wines has acquired organic wine specialist Mason & Mason Wines for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition of the Chichester-based winery, which forms part Bancroft’s organic growth strategy, was announced this morning with the deal taking effect from 31 May 2017.

A specialist in distinct “farm not factory” organic wines, the acquisition of Mason & Mason Wines would “complement and invigorate” the business, said managing director Neil McAndrew, adding the board had actively been pursuing organic acquisition opportunities.

Mason & Mason’s wines, which McAndrew described as “innovative and diverse”, perfectly dovetailed into Bancroft’s portfolio, he said.

“They are wines that tie in with the consumer’s ever increasing awareness and hunger for provenance, ethics and identity, while offering exceptional value and drinkability.”

The acquisition reflected the commitment of both the chairman and board to long-term investment and growth within this "fast-moving market”, he added.

Mason & Mason’s co-founder Nick Mason, who set the business up in 2002 with his wife, said: “We believe both portfolios complement each other beautifully, echoing our shared philosophy on excellence of product and customer service and, represented together, they will take our combined businesses to the next level.”

Mason & Mason distributes wines into the on-trade, independent off-trade and national channels.
