ABS adds first Oregon wineries to its menu

Published:  30 August, 2017

Awin Barratt Siegel (ABS) has added two Oregon wineries, marking the first producers from the US state to join the wholesaler and importer’s portfolio.

The newcomers comprise Twill Cellars - a small family-owned operation based in the Willamette Valley, and downtown Portland urban winery, Division Wine Company.

A total of eight wines from the state will be available – four from each grower.

Both the wineries offer key Oregon varietals, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Willamette Valley, but to reflect the diversity of the state, ABS said it had also listed Twill Oregon Syrah from Southern Oregon and the Division Wine Company’s Gamay Noir.

The wineries were “truly representatives” of growers in the Willamette Valley, working with small batches, using minimal intervention and displaying “real creativity and craftsmanship”, said marketing manager, Lesley Gray, adding they would compliment the Californian growers in the ABS portfolio nicely.

“We took our time finding the right producers, sticking with the ABS philosophy of building long term partnerships with small family owned wineries.”

The new wines will be showcased at ABS’ third portfolio tasting next week at which 50 growers from across the globe will be present.
