Langham Wine Estate appoints first head of sales & marketing

Published:  11 September, 2017

Langham Wine Estate has appointed Caroline Gitsham as head of sales & marketing – a new role created as the Dorset sparkling wine producer expands its production and tourism potential.

Gitsham has as part of her new role, which she started last week, taken on the responsibility for trade and private customer sales, development of the Tasting Room and Vineyard Café, management of events on and off the estate, digital marketing in addition to managing growth of national distribution and export opportunities.

Gitsham, who most recently worked as retail & hospitality director for the National Trust, was the “ideal candidate” due to her “fantastic broad experience” working at a senior level in small start-ups to global heritage brands, said Langham Wine Estate.

“As we take Langham Wine Estate to the next step, her customer experience, and brand development skills will be vital – on top of her long-standing keen interest and knowledge of wine,” said owner Justin Langham.

Creating the new role was the “obvious next step” in the producer’s organic growth, combined with a “sign of the times” as English wine tourism continued to grow, he added.

“Since planting our first vines in 2009 we’ve had so much support from the community, from the opening of the tasting room to the new Vineyard Café and we look forward to seeing how Caroline brings Langham Wine Estate to the next level,” he said.

Prior to her stint with the National Trust, Gitsham spent sixteen years in London working for various retailers with experience including buying, brand development and both commercial and digital marketing before she moved to Dorset eight years ago.
