Amathus Drinks secures L.N. Mattei Cap Corse distribution deal

Published:  02 October, 2017

Amathus Drinks has signed a deal as the exclusive UK distributor of L.N. Mattei Cap Corse, marking the first time the quinquina apéritif wine is available in the country.

Cap Mattei Grande Réserve, invented in 1872 in a secluded part of northern Corsica, is based on Corsican “mistelle” - a fresh grape must composition of Muscat and Vermentinu collected exclusively in Corsica, and is aromatised with macerations of more than thirty different botanicals.

The “uniqueness’ of the drink, which Amathus claimed to be the first quinquina apéritif wine to be sold in the UK, made it an “exciting new addition" to the distributor’s portfolio, said marketing manager, Charlotte Oswald.

“L.N.Mattei is set to stand out from the crowd due to its uniqueness and versatility, as the perfect ingredient to be served in a spritz, with tonic or in an array of sophisticated cocktails - definitely one to watch,” she said.

Describing the drink as “quintessential Corsican”, L.N. Mattei CEO Stefanu Venturini, said: “With a low alcohol content and unique taste profile, L.N. Mattei wants to bring a slice of Corsican life to the cocktail bars and restaurants we love in the UK and for it to become a staple in every home bar, just as it always has been for everyone here in Corsica.”

The UK launch of the brand, which comprises Cap Mattei Grande Réserve Rouge and Cap Mattei Grande Réserve Blanc – both 17% abv, follows its recent launch in Germany.
