Frizzenti founder embarks on ‘direct from winery to tap’ portal venture

Published:  01 November, 2017

The brainchild behind online sparkling wine delivery business Frizzenti has embarked on a new venture - an online portal dedicated to delivering quality wines in kegs direct from the winery to the tap.

Lovewineontap.com, live now and promising next day delivery, offers subscribers a selection of 25 wines in 20ltr keg format – the equivalent of 27 bottles, all sourced directly from the winery in a bid to reduce costs by cutting out the middleman.

The initial portfolio, which compromises red, white, rosé and sparkling wine, is sourced purely from Europe, but plans were in the pipeline to add further countries, such as New Zealand and Australia, as the business gathered pace, said co-founder George Workman, who launched online sparkling wine delivery business Frizzenti eight years ago.

The new online shop, which Workman claimed to the first of its kind, includes the option of buying the necessary equipment required - and having it installed - to sell wine on tap.

Offering on-trade outlets “significant” cost and space savings versus traditional bottles, Workman estimated an outlet would save in the region of 20% on a like-for-like basis when using the service.

“No middlemen, no fuss so imagine the savings,” he said.

As well as ensuring “no more wasted bottles or quality loss due to exposure to air and light”, the on-tap system also ensured speed of service, while providing flexibility to try different wines without the need to open a new bottle every time, added Workman.

Lovewineontap.com sets itself apart from Frizzenti, which owns its own Prosecco bars and has an events arm supplying sparkling wines to large stadium events from a fleet of vehicles, with its focus on wine on tap supplied direct to the on-trade via its online ordering system and next day delivery, said Workman.
