Barossa en primeur'

Published:  23 July, 2008

DMT Wine Imports - the joint venture between wholesaler Bordeaux Index and independent wine merchant The Cellar Door - will be giving the UK trade its first Barossa En Primeur' event later this year.

Aiming to replicate the buzz created by the annual Bordeaux en primeur event, the tasting will feature wines from the 2004 vintage made by the group of small-production Barossa winemakers that DMT represents. The tasting will take place on 10 November at Australia House in London.

The producers represented, nearly all of whom will be present at November's launch event, are: Standish Wine Company, Massena, Hobbs, Tin Shed, Mt Billy, Rusden, Spinifex, Schwarz Wine Company, Teusner, Torzi Matthew and Clancy Fuller.

At November's launch, customers will have the opportunity to secure their allocation of these small-production wines at an opening price. According to Gary Boom, chairman of Bordeaux Index: The aim of Barossa en primeur is to allow clients to secure stocks of impossible-to-find wines at advantageous prices.'
