Barry Dick MW joins Copestick Murray as head of winemaking

Copestick Murray has appointed Barry Dick MW to head up the the i heart distributor's wine portfolio.

Dick has 15 years experience in winemaking and buying, including sourcing wines for Sainsbury’s Own Brand range for five years, making him well placed to lead Copestick’s diverse portfolio which spans supermarkets, national specialist chains, on-trade, wholesalers, restaurants, independent retailers, and private clients.

He has also worked as an industry consultant, advising some of the biggest brands in the business, as well as major UK retailers Morrison’s and Tesco, UK wine agencies, importers and the on-trade wine sector.

As well as having a variety of commercial and wine technical skills, managing director Robin Copestick said Dick will be a big asset to the company’s most successful brands – the i heart range, which sold 15 million bottles internationally in 2017, helping the company to reach a record turnover of over £55 million.

He said: “[Dick] is ideally placed to bring our supplier base closer to our customers and the end consumer. With his vast experience, knowledge and understanding of the UK wine industry, Barry will work closely with all stakeholders to ensure we add value throughout the entire supply chain. Barry will be a big asset to our i heart business and other new, exciting projects we have in the pipeline. We are striving for fantastic wine quality at all levels and Barry will play a major role in this vital area of our business.”

Copestick Murray has partners in most major wine-producing countries and manages over 300 global products across wines, beers, spirits, and mixers.
