Maison Mumm launches ‘revolutionising’ cuvée

Published:  01 March, 2018

Maison Mumm has launched a cuvée aimed at redefining traditional perspectives on ageing Champagne.

Mumm 6 is, after six years in the cellars, rejuvenated with a special dosage liqueur from wine aged in oak barrels for eight months.

Available now, the fizz is described as a “striking modern” reinterpretation of the ageing process that “proves top quality Brut Champagne attains perfection with time”.

The extended ageing on lees resulted in a rich and mature Champagne that provided a “truly gastronomic experience”, said Maison Mumm.

Breaking the long held traditions of mature Champagne, the fizz is clearly labelled to show the number of years spent on the lees rather than a specific vintage year.

Made with Pinot Noir (more than 70%) from vineyards on the Montagne de Reims blended with of mineral Chardonnay from Côte des Blancs, it is best paired with game cooked in fruit, wild forest mushrooms or Reblochon cheese, or even a dessert such as caramelized apricots with vanilla crème.

Mumm 6 is available exclusively at Searcys at the Gherkin, St Pancras Brasserie and Champagne Bar and Searcys Champagne Bar at Westfield Stratford.
