Flint Wines brings Californian cult winery Mail Road to the UK

Published:  10 April, 2018

Flint Wines has signed a deal as the exclusive UK distributor of Santa Barbara County cult winery Mail Road.

Mail Road’s range of Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays will be available from the fine wine importer from next week, having landed in the UK this week as part of a promotional tour to give sommeliers and fine wine merchants a taste of the wines before the official launch.

Describing the wines as having “an elegance that defies expectations for Californian wines”, US wine buyer for Flint Wines, Sam Clarke, said: “So many wineries purport to have a Burgundian style, but these truly do, with a style somewhere between a stony Gevrey and an elegant Chambolle.”

The wines were poised to become iconic for Santa Barbara County, she added.

Founded by Michael Palmer, Matt Dees and Ron Piazza, Mail Road released its first wines from the 2012 vintage exclusively to list members in 2014.

The winery, which is based in the heart of the Santa Rita Hills, joins Flint Wines’ existing portfolio of family domaines and young, up and coming star winemakers with a focus on Burgundy, North-America and Italy.
