Bibendum and Matthew Clark reassure suppliers that it is ‘business as usual’

Published:  12 April, 2018

Bibendum and Matthew Clark have issued a statement to reassure customers that all contracts will be upheld, all outstanding supplier payments will be made and that scheduled retrospective discount payments will also be honoured.

The former Conviviality outlets, which were acquired by Magners owner C&C Group in partnership with AB InBev last week following the collapse of their previous owner, said it was “business as usual” in the statement, which was issued late this afternoon.

“Matthew Clark and Bibendum, alongside their various Walker & Wodehouse, Catalyst PLB, CDC, Peppermint Events and Elastic subsidiaries, are committed to improving service and supply levels for their customers and have said that all contracts will be upheld, and all outstanding supplier payments will be made and scheduled retrospective discount payments will also be honoured,” the statement said.

In addition, the businesses said they wanted to “reiterate their gratitude to their customers, suppliers and employees as they continue to trade and work around the clock to stabilise the business, get service back on track and build a stronger business for the future”.

“We would like to apologise for the impact on our customers and suppliers over these past weeks and to reassure that we are working closely with partners across all categories to bring stock levels and service back to the excellent standards we hold ourselves to,” said James Lousada, commercial director, Matthew Clark and Bibendum.

None of the businesses, including their various trading subsidiaries, entered administration allowing 2,000 jobs to be saved across the UK, and they will continue to operate independently with C&C Group’s support, according to the statement.

Andrea Pozzi, COO, C&C Group, said: “We are thrilled to have acquired these great businesses, and I would like to assure you that, with the support of C&C Group, the teams are working around the clock to not only get our service back on track, but to build a stronger business for the future.”
