The Vineyard Cellars adds two Napa Valley wineries
The Vineyard Cellars has been appointed exclusive UK agent for Napa Valley boutique wineries Somnium and Revana Estate – both specialists in Cabernet Sauvignon.
The deal marks the first time the wineries will export outside the US, with the UK the sole market beyond California.
Somnium produces just one red wine and Revana makes a small number of Cabernet expressions; only 60 bottles of Somnium and 48 bottles of each wine from Revana will be available for the UK market.
The wines, which are targeted at independent merchants and fine dining establishments (rrp: £76 to £132), would satisfy growing appetite for “top Napa Cabernets", said The Vineyard Cellars.
“Over the last 18 months we have seen the appetite for Napa Cabernets grow significantly, despite the economic downturn, with our top end wines often selling out in a matter of days from release date,” said wine director James Hocking.
Hand-farmed and organic, Somnium’s six-acre Howell Mountain estate has a terroir distinguished by diverse mountain terrain with volcanic rock soil and small microclimates - the vineyards planted at an altitude of 1,300 feet,
Located in St. Helena, the Revana Estate is in an ideal spot for growing Cabernet Sauvignon thanks to the area’s moderate temperatures and combination of warm days and cool nights.
The estate comprises nine separate blocks totalling nine acres, with each block farmed and vinified separately.
