Armit Wines boosts Italian portfolio with Tua Rita duo

Published:  10 July, 2018

Armit Wines has launched two wines from Italian producer Tua Rita alongside new releases from the 2016 vintage.

The duo comprises Keir - a Syrah vinified in amphora, enhancing the grape’s varietal characteristics and offering a contrast to Tua Rita’s Per Sempre Syrah, and Sese Passito di Pantelleria - the first sweet wine produced by the winery.

The latest additions to Armit’s Italian portfolio respected ancient winemaking traditions and culture, whilst demonstrating Tua Rita’s forward thinking and experimental nature, with only tiny volumes of both wines made, said Kirsten Kilby, managing director, Armit Wines.

Just 2,000 bottles were made of the first edition of Keir, the label adorned with the work of artist Rafaelle De Rosa, with 2,400 bottles of the Sese Passito di Pantelleria 2016 vintage produced as part of a new project for Tua Rita, away from Tuscany on the island of Pantelleria.

Stefano Frascolla, proprietor of Tua Rita, said: “Keir is both for those who love Syrah, and those who are curious to discover this amazing and powerful grape. Our new venture on Pantelleria has been made with great pride, from a tiny piece of land far from Tuscany near the Tunisian coast - you will be enchanted by Sese when you taste it.”

Tua Rita Keir and Sese are available through Armit Wines from today alongside the 2016 releases of the rest of the Tua Rita range, including Perlato del Bosco, Giusto di Notri and Redigaffi.
