Jascots expands ‘natural’ menu with Languedoc producer

Published:  06 September, 2018

Jascots has expanded its ‘natural’ wine portfolio with the addition of Languedoc producer Mas des Caprices.

From later this month, a duo of the biodynamic wines of Mas des Caprices in Corbières will be available from Jascots, - AOC Fitou “Retour aux Sources” and white Corbières “Le Blanc de L’Oeuf” (Egg-White) – a natural white blend aged in egg-shaped concrete vats.

Making its wine with minimum intervention and low or no sulphur, the producer was a “perfect fit” for Jascots, said managing partner Miles Macinnes, adding Fitou was an appellation due to be rediscovered

“The wines from Mas des Caprices are amazingly, pure, elegant and authentic examples of the appellations, with the winemaking organic (biodynamic certification in application),” he said.

The wines could be called ‘natural’ though their “clear and precise flavours” were classic, he added.

The wines will be launched at Jascots annual tasting 25 September alongside 70 other new additions.

The addition follows Jascots adding four new environmentally friendly producers last month - Mas des Caprices in Fitou, Vieira da Sousa, Can Descregut and Zsirai, as part of its commitment to sustainability.

Founded in 1991, Jascots has grown its turnover to more than £9 million following a management buyout in 2016. Focused on the on-trade, clients include Temper Restaurants, Social Eating House and Restaurant Associates.
