Published:  23 July, 2008

Constellation Wines Europe CEO Christopher Carson is set to step down from his position within six months.

Carson, who featured on the cover of last week's edition of Harpers, has been at the helm of the European division of the company since the acquisition of Hardys - where he was European managing director for ten years - two years ago. With Carson stepping down, Dan Townsend, currently the company's UK trading director, has taken up the newly created position of European trading director. Townsend, who had previously been managing director of Constellation Europe's wholesale division, Matthew Clark, will have responsibility for the sales and marketing of Constellation Europe's wine and water brands. Also stepping up will be Peter Spencer, currently the company's senior vice president, retail, who will be assuming the role of senior vice president, UK sales, wine.
