The Wine Scholar Guild adds Spanish programme to scholarship portfolio
The Wine Scholar Guild has added a Spain specific programme to its portfolio of scholarships developed for wine educators.
The new Spanish Wine Scholar (SWS) programme, which will initially be available for select educators and existing programme providers starting January 2019, has been designed like the existing programmes on France and Italy with manual, online modules, pronunciation exercises, interactive quizzes an turn-key teaching materials.
Following the pre-launch, the SWS programme will be made a available to all educators online as well as in classrooms around the world via the Wine Scholar Guild’s extensive programme provider network, with this poised to happen in autumn 2019.
The wine industry had been waiting two years for the programme, said Rick Fisher, Spanish wine scholar education director
“There is tremendous demand for a program focusing solely on the wines of Spain and we are happy to fill this need,” he said, adding much work had gone into creating an “interesting and informative” programme.
Potential instructors have to be accepted as a programme provider before beginning study. Once accepted, they will have exclusive preview access to the Spanish Wine Scholar program with the goal of achieving instructor certification by May 2019.
The wine educator application period is now open, with registration closing November 15th.
