Liberty Wines adds Bodega Garzón to its portfolio

Published:  08 January, 2019

Liberty Wines has boosted its South American offering with the addition of Bodega Garzón from Uruguay.

The eleven wines, which range in price from £15.99 to £84.99, were added to the Liberty Wines list on the 1st January 2019.

“We are looking forward to working with Liberty Wines and are confident that their broad customer base will enable us to build on our success to date,” said Christian Wylie, managing director at Bodega Garzón.

The family-owned Bodega Garzón was the first winery to plant vines in the South Atlantic coastal region of Maldonado. Liberty says it is now the “standard bearer for premium wines from Uruguay”.

Initial plantings of Tannat and Albariño have since expanded to 12 varieties over the last 10 years, including Viognier, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Petit Verdot and Marselan.

“I have long admired the Garzon wines for their precision and balance, and am convinced they will strengthen our portfolio,” said David Gleave of Liberty Wines.

The previous agent for Bodega Garzón was Bibendum Wine. Liberty will now operate as the exclusive agent in the UK.
