Famille Helfrich reveals exclusive Calvet range for on-trade and indies

Published:  05 February, 2019

Famille Helfrich is poised to unveil a new Calvet range exclusively created and designed for the on-trade and independents.

The new range has three quality tiers, featuring a Sauvignon Blanc, a Merlot and a Rosé, a heritage range of AOP wines from the “most popular” French appellations and a “classic” Calvet 1818 Bordeaux AOP icon wine.

“We developed the new Calvet branded range in response to a growing demand in the market place,” said Chris Davies, sales director of Famillie Helfreich, on-trade and independents division of GCF.

“We felt the time was right to expand this successful pan-appellation French brand to respond to the needs of our on-trade and independent customers. We look forward to welcoming as many of our current customers as well as potential new ones to our inaugural portfolio event in Birmingham later this month, and to hearing their feedback on the new wines.”

The range originally had a soft launch in 2017 but changes in production and modifications to the range delayed the roll out. The first tasting of the new range will take place at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham between 25 and 27 February.

Famille Helfrich will mark the launch with an introductory offer on Calvet 1818, where independent retailers can buy 11 cases and get one free.

Created to celebrate the birth of Calvet in Bordeaux 200 years ago, Famille Helfrich said its Calvet Cuvee 1818 is made from a “selection of the best parcels owned by Famille Helfich’s partner growers across the region”.

It added that Calvet winemaker, Benjamin Tueux has “produced a premium example of Bordeaux style with a contemporary twist to give consumers the opportunity to discover a stand out AOP Bordeaux that is typical of the region, approachable and with the potential to age well for around 7 years.”
