Bon Vivant launches Lady Libertine

Published:  20 February, 2019

Edinburgh’s Bon Vivant Group is growing fast. Following last year’s opening of The Register Club in The Edinburgh Grand hotel, and a second site for Mexican restaurant El Cartel, the group has recently opened the doors of all-day bar and restaurant Lady Libertine.

The sizeable venue, located on the corner of the Edinburgh Grand in the city centre, aims to appeal to a range of guests throughout the day, and well into the night too. The ground-floor wine café gets going from 8am with breakfast, followed by the bar below at midday. Later this space becomes a late-night bar, with DJs and live music, open until 3am on Fridays and Saturdays.

Wine gets just as much attention as cocktails here, with all 11 of the seasonal selection of still wines on the ground floor available by the glass and 500ml carafe, alongside a sherry and port offering too. Lady Libertine’s two spaces have separate cocktail offerings, with lighter options for upstairs, such as the Noilly-Prat-based Pastiche, with house peach purée and Cremant de Bourgogne, as well as low-ABV serves of vermouth or sherry.

The food offering, meanwhile, is “inspired by the Byzantine Empire”, which means “exotic spices, earthy pulses and tender slow cooked meats”, and focuses on sharing platters. Food is served until late.
