New super-premium Jacob's Creek

Published:  23 July, 2008

A new super-premium range of Jacob's Creek - Shiraz/Cabernet, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Chardonnay and Riesling - has been unveiled by Orlando Wyndham, Pernod Ricard's Australian wine division.

The wines have been launched in Australia but are not expected to be in the UK until next spring, to coincide with the 30th anniversary of Jacob's Creek. The Johann and Reeves Point replaces the Jacob's Creek limited-edition Shiraz/Cabernet and Chardonnays.

The Johann Shiraz/Cabernet (A$70-80; approximately 32) is a blend of Barossa Shiraz from renowned vineyards' with selected parcels of Coonawarra Cabernet. St Hugo Cabernet Sauvignon (17) comes from Coonawarra's famous terra rossa soil. Centenary Hill Shiraz (17) comes principally from vineyards around the actual Jacob's Creek. Reeves Point Chardonnay (15), named after the landing place where JC founder Johann Gramp disembarked, comes from fruit from Adelaide Hills, Padthaway and Langhorne Creek. Steingarten Riesling (10) comes from the eponymous steep, stony, east-facing vineyard in the western Barossa Ranges.
