Bottle Green gives birth to Twin Vines

Published:  23 July, 2008

Bottle Green hopes to cut through the maze of wine language with the launch of Twin Vines.
The six-wine range features three varietals, each with an Old World and New World version: Chardonnay from France and Australia, Merlot from France and Chile, and Zinfandel from Italy and California. The wines, which all retail at 4.99, were blended by Bottle Green wine director Nick Butler and senior winemaker Mark Nairn.

Each back label shows the Twin Vine Flavour Table', containing information on the aroma, taste and style. For example, the French Merlot says: What am I smelling? Blackcurrants. What am I tasting? Ripe red plums. When I have a drink, the wine will feel like bittersweet dark chocolate.'

Morrisons is the first store to list Twin Vines, and the range will have in-store sampling and price promotions at the launch, which takes place on 13 February.

A Bottle Green spokeswoman explained that when the range is not on promotion, the wines will all be stocked by country, and not together, with shelf talkers prompting customers to seek out each wine's Twin'.
