MONDAVI PULLS OUT OF LANGUEDOC

Published:  23 July, 2008

The Robert Mondavi Company has sold its Vichon Mediterranean brand of Languedoc premium varietal wines to Sieur d'Arques, a co-op based in Limoux. Sieur d'Arques, which has 600 members and produces more than one million cases a year, has been the label's primary supplier. In 2000, Vichon was the fifth largest French brand (by value) in the US, with global sales of more than 200,000 cases. Shaw Ross is now the exclusive importer of Vichon in the US. Mondavi will still handle sales and distribution outside the US.
