New Zealand generic teams up with indies

Published:  23 July, 2008

New Zealand Winegrowers (NZW) is about to launch a
six-week promotion which will involve around 50 independent wine merchants.

This is the second year NZW has run the promotion - which involves a mix of competitions and promotional material - after last year's event saw New Zealand wine sales in the outlets increase by an average of 250%.

Participating retailers have been sent specially produced POS material, and the wine merchant that can demonstrate the most effective campaign will win a trip to the Pinot Noir conference in Wellington in January 2007.

There is also a chance for two consumers to win a trip to New Zealand by entering a competition advertised in the partcipating merchants.

We are now in the fortunate position of being able to really get behind the independent sector - which has so much to offer the wine lover - and give them the support they deserve in ther efforts to hand sell New Zealand Wine,' said Warren Adamson, director at New Zealand Winegrowers.

NZW is also holding two regional tastings next month, in Liverpool and Birmingham. The two events are aimed at the trade during the day and consumers in the evening.

The Liverpool event is being held at Merseyside Maritme Museum, Albert Dock, while the Birmingham event will take place at The Centennial Centre in Edgbaston.
