NEW WINE BOOKS

Published:  23 July, 2008

A raft of book launches? It must be Christmas. Dorling Kindersley (DK) is publishing three wine books this month. Robert Joseph's "Good Wine Guide" (9.99) is in its 17th year and, for the first time, includes information on a thousand International Wine Challenge award-winning wines. Joanna Simon has written the "Sunday Times Book of Wine" (16.99) for "anyone who loves wine and wants to know a bit more about it". It is described as "a stylish, contemporary guide to experiencing the world of wine. It covers all the basics, including buying, storing, tasting, serving and, most importantly, drinking." Finally, DK has a new edition of Tom Stevenson's "New Sotheby's Wine Encyclopedia" (35), which covers more than 4,000 appellations and wine styles, and 2,000 producers. Websters is publishing "Grapes & Wines" by Oz Clarke and Margaret Rand, priced 25. It claims to provide a "comprehensive guide to varieties and flavours".
