FIRST QUENCH PAYS OUT OVER 2m IN BONUSES

Published:  23 July, 2008

As part of a new incentive scheme, First Quench has made bonus payments totalling more than 2.2 million to 1,700 of its 2,500 store managers. The new bonus scheme is one of the best in drinks retailing,' said chief executive David Williams, and offers handsome lump sums to those with the will to win.' More than two thirds of the company's branches have beaten their targets for the last six months, which - First Quench claims - is a reflection of the progress made since its acquisition a year ago by Nomura's Principal Finance Group. The top bonus payment is more than 8,000, while around one in five of the successful managers will receive over 2,000 each. Steve Headington, managing director, retail, said: I am delighted that so many of our hard-working managers have achieved a bonus. By focusing on the customer, by concentrating on retail standards and a new approach to promotions, the successful stores have reached new heights. The rebranding of Victoria Wine to Thresher Wine Shops has played an instrumental part in our strategy to develop sales.'
