CARLOS FALCO AND MICHEL ROLLAND MAKE 'SUPER WINE' IN RIOJA BAJA

Published:  23 July, 2008

High-profile owner-winemakers Carlos Falc - the Marqus de Grin - and Michel Rolland are overseeing production of a new super wine' from the bodega Dominio de Susar near Alfaro in the Rioja Baja, an estate owned by Bodegas Unidas. Falc was the first to recognise the potential of the mature Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah vines, which between 1998 and 2000 were all converted to Smart-Dyson training and drip irrigated, techniques first adopted in Spain at Dominio de Valdepusa, the Grin estate in Malpica. The 1999 Enartis, aged in French and American oak, is likely to be the first official release, at the 2002 Spanish Wine Trade Fair.
