WSET teams up with generics

Published:  23 July, 2008

The Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) has teamed up with a number of generic bodies, including Australia, New Zealand and Chile. It will now have a stand at shows such as the Wines of Chile consumer show and the Wines of Portugal event at the end of March.

Chief executive Ian Harris (pictured far left, with Wine Australia general manager Paul Henry) explained: Consumers are more likely to trade up, both in the on- and off-premise, when they have more extensive wine knowledge, and this reinforces my crusade to demonstrate how education adds value to the category.'

The WSET has also teamed up with two MWs - Tim Atkin and Alastair Peebles - to produce up-to-date DVDs for use in its courses. The DVDs, initially designed for Intermediate Certificate students, will feature interviews with winemakers, along with vineyard and winery shots.
