Youngsters launch anti binge drinking media campaign

A Durham-based youth forum has launched an anti -binge drinking awareness campaign involving radio, television and bus advertising.

The District of Easington Youth Forum canvassed 2,000 11-16 year olds about a variety of health and social issues.

Its Too drunk to care' campaign was launched on the back of the survey's findings.

Steve Clark, the District of Easington's youth strategy officer said a Government Neighbourhood Renewal Fund grant of 9,000 for the mixed media awareness initiative including a cable television advertisement screened at 23 local doctors' surgeries, local radio promotions and bus posters.

Forum members now hope to launch a schools-based peer alcohol mentoring service.
