Fattorini wins Yalumba scholarship

Published:  23 July, 2008

Joe Fattorini, wine writer for the Daily Herald, and Harpers contributor, has won a trip to the Yalumba winery in Australia as part of the Masters of Wine 2007/08 programme.

The journalist will also visit an MW education seminar in Melbourne as part of his visit.

Fattorini's winning essay was on the subject: "The Australian wine offering, particularly in international markets, has become increasingly boring. To what extent is this true, and who is responsible - producer, retailer, consumer or journalist?"

Yalumba owner Robert Hill Smith said: "we look forward to welcoming Joe to Yalumba and showing him what our winery and Australia have to offer".

At the Yalumba winery Fattorini will spend time with winemakers Louisa Rose, Brian Walsh, Peter Gambetta and Kevin Glastonbury.

The scholarship is awarded to one second-year MW student on the full-time programme.
