Griffith Park producer reports record profits

Published:  23 July, 2008

Cockatoo Ridge (CKR), the Australian wine company which produces Griffith Park sparkling Ros, has released record profits.

Griffith Park sparkling Ros, which flew off UK shelves as Morrisons sold it below the five pound mark, was a significant export for the company.

A statement read: "International gains in the half-year just concluded were shipments to new agents in China and Europe. The CKR-produced Griffith Park sparkling Ros created headlines in the UK after it won a gold medal in the prestigious Effervescents du Monde competition in France.

"The wine finished in the top ten wines of the competition which featured far more expensive French champagnes.

"As a result, Griffith Park has gained new listings in major UK supermarkets and is set to become one of the company's largest export brands."

Strong domestic marketing of the CKR brand plus targeted distribution of new brands Normans Lone Gum and NXG drove profits also.
