World's most expensive champagne gets UK debut

Published:  23 July, 2008

Perrier-Jout, the prestige Cuve owned by Pernod Ricard, has announced its super champagne gift set will be coming to the UK.

Ten limited edition 12-bottle cases will retail at 35,000. The set, which was released initially on March 20 is the most expensive Champagne currently available.

Based on the Perrier-Jout Belle Epoque Blanc de Blancs 2000 vintage, only a 100 cases of the cuve are available worldwide.

Purchase of a tailor made champagne set will include a trip to the Maison Belle Epoque and an opportunity to meet the current cellar master Herv Deschamps.

Every bottle will then be co-signed by Deschamps and its owner for authentication purposes. Once finished, the personalised 'By & For' cuve will be aged in a dedicated cellar within the historic 'caves' of Maison Belle Epoque until ready for delivery to the owner's home.

Chris Seale, Pernod Ricard UK head of Champagnes, commented: "This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the elite wine connoisseur to customise their own champagne, it's the ultimate in bespoke luxury. Champagne Perrier-Jout has always placed quality, uniqueness and integrity at the heart of its undertakings.

"The House celebrates the fine art of champagne, working with small volumes and limited production and this tailor-made champagne cuve epitomises this philosophy."

The 10 cases for the UK will be available exclusively through the Ritz, the Royal Opera House and Quintessentially from June 27.

Bond actress Sophie Marceau, designer Nicole Fahri, Angel of the North sculptor Anthony Gormley and Marianne Faithfull are all said to have purchased a bespoke case of the Champagne.
