Coors recalls Grolsch amid glass scare

Coors Brewers has been forced to recall more than half a million bottles of Grolsch premium lager from Morrisons stores, following complaints that there were pieces of glass in some of the bottles.

Coors Brewers has been forced to recall more than half a million bottles of Grolsch premium lager from Morrisons stores, following complaints that there were pieces of glass in some of the bottles.

The UK Food Standards Agency announced at the weekend that there had been three separate complaints about pieces of glass being found in the beer. The recall involves a batch of 526,000 bottles made on July 18, which are only just being supplied to retail outlets now.

Coors has placed ads in four national newspapers supplied point-of-sale notices supplied for Morrisons to display. Coors said that no other Grolsch products or packages are included in the recall.

The product details for the affected batch are:

* Grolsch Premium Lager, Bottled
* 20 x 300ml bottles in cardboard case
* Best before: 31 March 2009
* Batch code: L8200 and L8199
