Warren Adamson, who heads up New Zealand Winegrowers in the UK and Europe, is to become European sales director for  New Zealand's Craggy Range Vineyards, replacing Michael Henley.

Adamson,  who has 15 years experience in the wine trade and has been UK and Europe director for New Zealand Winegrowers since 2005, will take up the position from June 1.

Michael Henley meanwhile will return to New Zealand in July to take up a wine ambassadorial and marketing role for Craggy Range.

Terry Peabody Jnr, managing director sales and marketing for Craggy Range Vineyards Ltd, said: "Our commitment to the UK and European markets has been reinforced with Warren's appointment.

"In these tight economic conditions, many are retrenching their efforts in the marketplace, our approach is very different.

"It is very important for Craggy Range to have one of our own people based permanently in the market to ensure all our valuable customers have a local contact point.

"Michael has done a superb job in establishing our UK and European presence and we are very fortunate to have secured Warren as his successor.

"Warren is a proud New Zealander with a great understanding of the UK and European wine markets.

"In his role with us, we are expecting him to talk about New Zealand wines as a whole as much as the wines of Craggy Range and the newly rebranded Wild Rock."

Adamson said: "I am really proud to have represented the New Zealand wine industry for the last four years.

"New Zealand wine has achieved a lot in that time and, as an industry, we are in a great position to deal with these challenging times.

"My new role with Craggy Range pulls together everything I have learned from my 15 years in the New Zealand wine industry and presents the perfect opportunity to return to my commercial roots.

"I am very excited about the challenges ahead and to be working with such great brands and people."

Warren will be based in the offices of their UK agent Louis Latour Agencies in London.
