Cobra boss quits

Published:  27 April, 2009

The head of Cobra Beer in the UK has reportedly quit his post as speculation mounts that the company is on the brink of being sold.

Adrian McKeown joined Cobra in 2007, having previously worked at Beam Global Spirits and Wine as managing director.

There is now mounting speculation that the UK arm of the business, owned by Indian entrepreneur Karan Bilimoria, could be sold to Molson Coors, makers of Carling.

It follows failed negotiations in July last year to sell a stake to Diageo, the world's biggest spirits producer.

Bilimoria is believed to be seeking up to £200m for sale of the drinks company and announced plans to sell Cobra last year.
