CAMRA unveiled Ninkasi, the Goddess of Beer', at the Great British Beer Festival this month. Ninkasi is the figurehead of CAMRA's new campaign to persuade women to try real cask ale. Mike Benner, head of CAMRA communications, said: We think British beer is something to be proud of and we feel it should be marketed towards women as well as men. Our research shows that many women don't drink beer because it isn't promoted to them.' Research also shows that only 23% of women have tried real ale in a pub. * The 2002 CAMRA Champion Beer of Britain is Deuchars IPA, brewed by Caledonian of Edinburgh.
