Boutinot recalls wine

Published:  04 December, 2009

The wine importer Boutinot has recalled from sale the NOVAS Winemaker's Selection - Chardonnay Marsanne Viognier 2006.

The wine has been pulled from shelves as it contains the preservative sulphur dioxide, which is not mentioned on the product label.

The Food Standards Agency has issued an allergy alert advising anyone with a sensitivity to sulphites not to drink it.

NOVAS Winemaker's Selection Chardonnay, Marsanne, Viognier 2006, is imported from Chile and sold mainly in independent retailers, some restaurants and Booths' supermarkets.

The wine will be re-labelled with the correct allergy labelling information before being put back on sale. Boutinot has provided product recall notices for shops to display, and the relevant allergy support organisations have been contacted and will inform their at-risk members.

Customers are advised that if they are sensitive to sulphites and have bought the affected wine should speak to the manager at the shop where purchased.

No other Boutinot or NOVAS Winemaker's Selection products are known to be affected.

The lot number is L 41358.
