Published:  26 March, 2010

Australian Vintage Limited (AVL) has announced that its chief executive officer Dane Hudson, will be leaving the company in May.

Chairman, Ian Ferrier, said Dane who has been AVL's chief executive officer for four years has decided to pursue other interests.

The board are to commence a search process to appoint a replacement once a decision is made concerning the potential merger with Constellation Brands.

Neil McGuigan, AVL's general manager of production and supply, will take over his position in the interim.

Ferrier said: "Dane has been AVL's CEO for over four years and has worked closely with the board in the restructuring and repositioning of AVL during one of the most challenging times in the history of the Australian wine industry. He has shown strong leadership and commitment during this demanding period and now feels the time is right for a change."

Hudson said "I have thoroughly enjoyed leading Australian Vintage. It is a company with outstanding people, products, suppliers and customers. From both a personal and career perspective this marks the right time for me to move on as AVL is well positioned to embark on future opportunities."

Discussions with Constellation regarding a possible combining of part of their Australian and UK operations with AVL continue.
