Bordeaux Index director launches Kiwi negociants

Published:  27 April, 2010

Vindico Negociants has begun operations as New Zealand's first negociant styled wine business that aims to help producers sell surplus stock.

The partnership has been formed between founder and director of London based, Bordeaux Index Ltd, Richard Mannell and owner of the Hawkes Bay, Hatton Estate winery, Mike Daymond-King.

Mannell and Daymond-King say Vindico is structured similarly to the French negociant model and has developed an extensive range of its own labels. It also represents individual estates and develops new, individual brands for its distributors and customers. One of its aims is to become the buyer of first resort for those producers with stock surplus to their requirements.

Pitched at the Asian, UK and European markets, Vindico intends to focus on maximum return on investment, based on an appropriate balance between price and volume, whether at the premium end of the wine spectrum, or at a more budget level. www.vindicowines.com
