Courvoisier has become the UK's best-selling Cognac brand, overtaking Martell for the first time, according to the latest AC Nielsen MAT figures. Sales in both the on- and off-trade for the full Courvoisier portfolio were 270,000 9-litre cases, giving the Allied Domecq brand 40.65% by volume and 42.05% by value of the total UK Cognac market, outstripping the total Martell portfolio. It was inevitable that Courvoisier would steal the Cognac crown sooner or later,' said Courvoisier brand manager Lisa Smith. It was already the best-selling Cognac brand in the on-trade and multiple grocers and has experienced sustained growth for the past two years.'
