Tasmania to hold 2012 International Cool Climate Wine Symposium

Published:  25 June, 2010

Tasmania has been selected to host the 2012 International Cool Climate Wine Symposium.

The Tasmanian Minister for Tourism, Michelle O'Byrne, said the event, which would attract about 300 delegates, would put Tasmania firmly on the international wine map and economic and brand benefits would be long-lasting and wide-ranging.

She added: "Securing this event continues our current momentum in promoting Tasmania as a food and wine destination locally, nationally and internationally.

"For our wine industry the conference provides a tremendous opportunity to reinforce Tasmania as a centre of cool climate winemaking."

The bid for Tasmania to host the 2012 ICCS was presented by Felicia Mariani, chief executive officer of tourism and Dr Andrew Pirie, director of Wine Industry.

It will be held in Hobart on 1 - 4 February 2012.
