Rupert Ellwood to leave Vinopolis

Rupert Ellwood, managing director of Vinopolis is leaving after three years in the role.

Ellwood will depart from The Board of Wineworld London PLC on July 23, to join Waitrose's international development team as manager of international growth from August 30.

Over his three years, Ellwood introduced consumer events such as the Laughter Lounge comedy nights and The Reel Ceilidh, to Vinopolis as well as attracted corporate business from the likes of Sony Ericson and the BBC's Apprentice television series.

He was also instrumental in securing Laithwaites Wine as partner for its wine retail space and the granting of planning permission for future development plans.

Wineworld London PLC's chairman, Sandy Anderson said: "On behalf of shareholders, I would like to thank Rupert for his hard work and dedication in making Vinopolis one of London's most coveted venues."

Speaking about his decision, Ellwood said: "I'm extremely proud to have served the Vinopolis Board and to have achieved such success in making Vinopolis the fun and engaging visitor attraction and corporate events space it is today. I feel that this is the right time to leave for my next career move."
