Foster's reprieves vineyards

Published:  07 July, 2010

Four Australian vineyards put on the market by Foster's have been removed from sale.

The company has already sold 20 of the 36 vineyards earmarked for disposal in its recent strategic review.

But it has now decided that four of the vineyards on the list should be reprieved because the fruit is important for new releases.

The vineyards are the 150ha Guthrie's vineyard and 246ha Schulz vineyard, both at Wrattonbully on the Limestone Coast in South Australia; the 59ha meridian Home vineyard in New South Wales; and the Bailey's winery and an attached 143ha vineyard at Rutherglen, Victoria.

In May Foster's announced plans to demerge its wine and beer operations.
