"youthful wine, bursting with vitality"

Patriarche Wine Agencies has unveiled a re-packaged Beaujolais Nouveau from Patriarche Pre et Fils. The aim of the day-glow wrapping is to present Beaujolais as a "youthful wine, bursting with vitality". The 2000 vintage was the earliest for Beaujolais for thirty years and the average temperature was higher than in 1998 and 1999. The wines are described as showing "good concentration, are fresh yet complex and harmonious". l The Hallgarten Group is now the UK distributor for Mommessin, the Beaujolais producer. On 16 November the company has arranged for eight trumpeters to visit restaurants and retailers in central London, starting with a Beaujolais breakfast in the City. The trade price for Mommessin's nouveau is 51.96 The blend was agreed by members of the Michael Druitt Vintners sales team, Ranald MacDonald of London restaurant Boisdale, Giles MacDonogh of the Financial Times and Harry Phipps of Westminster magazine.
