Turin's second staging of Salone del Vino, 22-25 November, an all-Italian wine fair open to the trade only, met with a positive response, registering a 40% increase in visitors (37,700) and a 25% increase in exhibitors (1,175 wineries). The Salone del Vino gives an opportunity to meet new, smaller producers in a more calm atmosphere than Vinitaly,' said Philip Contini of Valvona & Crolla. But Erik Schneider, Swedish importer at Carovin, said: The question is, if the Salone grows, can we, as wine importers, go to both the Salone del Vino and Vinitaly every year? Vinexpo is every two years, so why should Italy have two major exhibitions per year?'
