Naked Wines invest £10 million to find new winemakers

Published:  30 November, 2010

UK online wine retailer, Naked Wines, has announced a £10 million, 2011 investment pot to unearth new winemaking talent.

The Norwich-based company that invests in independent winemakers in return for exclusive wines at preferential prices is celebrating its second birthday by doubling its 2010, £5 million commitment.

Rowan Gormley,  founder and chief executive, said: "Since launching, we've helped 22 winemakers set-up shop, create 85 new wines, and sell over 1million bottles of their wines - and our goal for 2011 is to double this."

The majority of the money will go towards our existing winemakers who are looking to further improve the quality of their range - and the rest will be used to attract new winemaking talent to the UK, who don't have the cash-flow or support network to do so.

Winemakers looking to break into the UK, who aren't represented by an agent, can apply for funding at  www.nakedwines.com/suppliers OR get in touch at suppliers@nakedwines.com
