Linking Environment And Farming (LEAF) has authorised the world's first LEAF Marque wines.

The wines come from three family-run estates in Bordeaux, including Chåteau Lavison, Chåteau Haut-Grand-Champ and Chåteau Chillac. The programme has been developed by Bordeaux négociant Yvon Mau.

LEAF methods sit between conventional and organic farming, using integrated farm management.

The LEAF Marque is usually seen on fresh fruit and vegetables.

Retailer Waitrose has pledged to sell all its conventional fresh, prepared and frozen fruit, vegetables and flowers with a LEAF marque by 2010.
