Lidio Carraro to produce official World Cup wines
Lidio Carraro has been named the producer of the official licensed wines for the World Cup in Brazil in 2014.
The Brazilian winery officially launched the World Cup project, its Faces range, at ProWein yesterday (Wines of Brasil stand D02, Hall 1) and pre-selection samples are available to taste at the event.
Lidio Carraro is a family-owned winery with vineyards in Vale dos Vinhedos and Encruzilhada do Sul in southern Brazil. The family have produced wines in Brazil for five generations and have a reputation for their purist winemaking techniques, using no oak during production.
Patricia Carraro, marketing director at Lidio Carraro, said: "Our family has had much success with this type of project in the past [Lidio Carraro was the official wine of the Pan-American Olympics in 2007] but this FIFA World Cup project is really something even bigger and more exciting. We are proud to be able to represent Brazil all over the world in football-loving nations."
